Important Information Fats To Eat On Keto

By Shirley Howard

The word keto is used as a short form of the word ketogenic which is a form of diet that deals with fats and oil intakes instead of carbohydrates and high-calorie foods. In short, it is defined as a low-carb, high fat and protein diet. The main aim of the diet is to enhance the metabolism of these compounds instead of glucose which comes as a result of starch and sugar breakdown. It encourages intakes of these oils as the main food materials. However, there are certain fats to eat on keto as not all of them are ideal for your body.

This method of eating is important and applied in different areas. First, this is a therapy used in weight loss as well as body health maintenance. The body produces insulin hormone that is responsible for converting glucose into oils and related compounds. It also produces glucagon is responsible for adding sugar concentration in the blood. The conversion of sugar to storage materials is what brings weight accumulation and build up. This results in conditions like obesity, bellies, and overweight.

When faced with these conditions, cardiovascular activities are interfered with and exposed to risks like blood vessels blocking and cardiac arrest. On the other hand, this measure is an epilepsy medication. Epileptic patients are encouraged to take these type of meals and have been proved to provide help. However, the amount ingested should be high because one molecule of oil will produce energy which is far less when compared with one molecule of carbohydrate.

Fats are organic compounds that consist of hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen as the building materials. These lipids occur in either liquid or solid states. They are broken down to release energy as well. They come in saturated and unsaturated acidic form.

Because of the composition of the fats, they may have hazardous effects that may be life-threatening if not properly taken. Some of the side effects are such as heart disorders and infections and accumulation of cholesterol in the blood vessels. At the same time, they are believed to cause some cancers.

Saturated oils come from different sources. The best oils to take include oils from coconut, palm, red meat, tallow and eggs among other eatable products. They are said to be stable and durable. However, these products need to be cooked first before you can eat them for better breakdown and synthesis.

The other type is medium-chain triglycerides also referred to as MCT type of saturated oils. This type of compounds is easily digested by the body and easily oxidized and that is why most athletes prefer taking them. This is because when you take them, they go directly to the liver cells where the breakdown occurs. However, you can find them small quantities in coconut and palm oils as well as butter.

Monounsaturated are oils rich in minerals and elements such as omega 9. These ones are either taken in raw or cooked state. They come from products of avocado, olive, and macadamia and are responsible for serum formation and reduction of coronary diseases. Polyunsaturated contain omega six and three and are ideal for both body and brain health.
